Education

Having a good education is the basement of a bright and economical secure future for the individual and society. It is the seed we have to spread in order of gaining a long term orientated development.

Drawing importance to education is inevitable to give people the power to help themselves and to act and think for oneself.

Education of women and girls is given special importance to guarantee their empowerment. A few decades ago, parents of poor families refused girls to go to school and lots of women are still not able to even put their signature.

Non formal Education Programme

The programme is designed for illiterate women living in the village sides

The Adult education programme in the project could bring a hike in the literacy rate in the villages. More than 25 % of females in Tamil Nadu are illiterate and therefore hindered in their autonomy and self esteem.

Illiteracy was a cause for the women to keep a distance from entering into the development aspects both individually and socially. Due to their low self-confidence, they were afraid to join in the group because they feared becoming the group animator or representative.

SC Illiterate women in the village are being trained under the non-formal education programme by the village animator and the SHG animators. As a part of the program, exercise book containing alphabets, small words, poems and numbers are distributed to the trainees.
